PENDANT, BRASS 2024
A brass pendant crafted with techniques such as soldering, riveting, stone-setting, embossing, and hand sawing. This necklace was inspired by my mother’s own jewelry that she has gifted me over the years, symbolizing protection and transformation. The snake design was embossed onto the pendant and finished with a brown-black darkening patina.
*Chain was not made by myself.
CONTAINER, COPPER 2024
A small copper container representing an aspect of memories - human touch. This container was created originally using photographs of my peers that was then collaged into a design on Photoshop. Then, the design was photo-etched onto a copper sheet and made into a cylinder. The tab-style lid was hand sawed to have the tabs shaped as hands. As you lift the lid, the hands begin to appear. The entire piece was finished with a brown-black darkening patina to show an aged, vintage look.
BROOCH, COPPER & BRASS 2024
A copper and brass brooch that was curated to represent a part of my own personality. As I am very drawn towards celestial elements and often reflect this in my own jewelry, I created a brooch combining three different shapes. The gold sun and spiral were first hand sawed and later riveted together to create a layering effect. The copper moon was finished with a hammering texture to enhance the “crater” look. Lastly, the star was darkened using a brown-black patina and riveted to the moon. A pin back was then attached to the back of the piece.
THE HUMAN CONNECTION 1 2024
A multi-media sculpture using only three typical materials: fabric, transparent paper, and rope. The composition is made up of three different scenes depicting the stages of a relationship — strangers, friends, and lovers. The intensity of the red string varies between each stage, showing the different levels of the their connection throughout their relationship. The fabric figures (1st set) represent closed-off strangers, not knowing that they are connected by a single thread of string. Then, the figures made of transparent paper (2nd set) exemplify their connection deepening, and the strangers letting their guard down and becoming more “transparent”. Lastly, the rope figures (3rd set) showcase the intense connection of two different people, and the intertwined mess it can make. A red marker was used to add to the intensity of each stage, leaving the lovers to have the most powerful connection out of the three. The figures were then glued down to a wooden board and finished.
THE HUMAN CONNECTION 2 2024
A group project that instructed us to combine ideas from all of our previous projects, and create one singular work. Ideas of intimacy and relationships first emerged when looking at all three of our original projects. This sculpure was created to represent the fragileness of the human connection, and amplify that onto a bigger scale. The hands were first sculpted with tin foil, then topped with layers of paper mache. Then, holes were pierced inside the hands which allowed the hands to then be held up with a strong rope. Black string was used to tie a connection between the two hands symbolizing the tender human touch.
